A Barber School Website That Loads in Under 3 Seconds
A two-campus barber school in Doral and Miami Gardens was on a slow, plugin-heavy WordPress site where a quarter of the pages failed to load under a basic crawl. We rebuilt it page for page, then added a student app and a back office for clock hours and tuition.
What we built
The challenge
The Barbering Academy trains barbers in 300, 600 and 900 hour programs on two campuses, with 4.9 stars on Google in Doral. Its website did not match. The old WordPress build ran 19 plugins and 113 scripts, took 11.5 seconds to show its main content, and 42 of its 176 pages failed when we crawled it. Tours, forms and the course portal lived in a separate marketing tool on top of that.
What we did
- Measured the old site first: score, load time, page weight, requests and a full crawl, so every claim has a before number.
- Rebuilt every page on a modern stack with the same addresses, so nothing that ranks today gets lost on switch day.
- Built tour booking and lead forms that email the admissions team instantly, plus an AI chat that answers program and enrollment questions.
- Built a student app: hours progress, QR and location-checked clock-in, tuition payments, documents with finger e-sign, and messages.
- Built a staff back office that tracks clock hours the way federal student aid programs require.
The outcome
The rebuilt site scores 95 against the old 58, shows its main content in 2.9 seconds instead of 11.5, and weighs 0.87 MB instead of 4.3 MB. It is live as a full preview, ready to move onto the school's own domain, with the student app and back office built alongside it.
